All Blacks midfielder Isaia Toeava’s been recalled to the Blues for Friday’s must win Super 14 match against the Reds in Brisbane.

Blues coach David Nucifora has opted to rest Benson Stanley so he is dropped to the bench. The biggest surprise in the selections is probably in naming Nick Evans at 15 instead at 10.

“We’ve decided to give Benson Stanley a bit of a breather on the bench, as he has started every game in this competition, and Isaia Toeava will go on at 12,” Nucifora says on the Blues website.

“Anthony Tuitavake remains at centre after an impressive game in the midfield last week and David Smith will retain the right wing spot.

“Taniela Moa deserves his start at halfback after impressing against the Crusaders, and Isa Nacewa will play at first five-eighth where his organisation and communication skills worked well for us.

“Nick Evans will be at fullback, offering him more space to attack from the back.”

The forward pack is unchanged.

The Blues team:
