Winger Lote Tuqiri established a new Waratahs try record on Saturday when he scored a try in the 68th minute against the Blues.

Tuquiri scored his 25th try for the Waratahs in Super rugby which took him one clear of the previous record holder Matt Burke who no longer plays for the Waratahs.

The Wallaby and Waratah winger had drawn level with Burke’s record when he scored a try for the Tahs against the Brumbies in week four of this year’s Super 14.

The Waratahs dominated possession throughout the match and produced a superb defensive effort to suffocate the Blues’ attacking efforts.

“We have been confident in the work we have been doing week in and week out,” Waratahs coach Ewen McKenzie said after the match.

“We felt something good was going to come.

“We probably missed a few opportunities in the first half but that was a pretty good effort and I’m pretty happy.”
