The New Zealand Rugby Union and Highlanders are said to be investigating an incident involving their flying winger Fetu’u Vainikolo.

According to Newstalk ZB a member of the public made a complaint to the Highlanders about Vainikolo following an alleged incident at a Dunedin bar early on Saturday morning.

The Highlanders lost their opening Super 14 match 31-33 but were leading a minute from full time but the Brumbies sent over a drop goal to take the victory.

Vainikolo scored one of the Highlanders five tries in the match.

A misconduct hearing is expected to take place this week.
