Valke fall to Bulldogs in Currie Cup

Two former Pukke wingers Lola Waqa and Dumisane Matyeshana, gave the Border Bulldogs some bite as they beat the Valke 48-31 in Kempton Park on Saturday.

Waqa, who scored a brace, played for the North West students in the recent Varsity Cup.

The Valke are destined for the wooden spoon in the Currie Cup  competition, but scored a consolation bonus point for four tries.

The Valke led 19-14 at the break, but the Bulldogs scored 34 points in the second half to secure their first win of the competition. Zimbabwean winger Wensley Mbanje scored one of the Valke’s tries.

-Both the Valke’s junior teams, the Under 19s and Under 21s beat their Griquas counterparts in curtain-raisers and the Valke’s Amateur team disposed of the Lions.
