South African born Wallaby lock Dan Vickerman says that he hopes to be fit to face New Zealand on 29 July after a scan revealed that his shoulder injury was not serious.

Vickerman’s shoulder needed reconstruction surgery last year and when he went off in Saturday’s match against South Africa there were fears that he could face another lay off.

“I’m pretty happy – it’s a big relief, I had six months out last year with a shoulder injury so it’s good news this time around.” said Australia’s vice-captain.

“Hopefully I’ll do a bit of rehab over the next couple of weeks and get it back to where it was and get rid of the pain and hopefully I’ll be ready for (the New Zealand match).” he said.
