Wallaby coach John Connolly has omitted prop Greg Holmes out of a 25-man Tri-Nations squad to play South Africa. Holmes started was a starter for the Wallabies in all six of their tests this year will be rested and is replaced by Benn Robinson. Queenslander Drew Mitchell and Guy Shepherdson are recalled after not featuring against New Zealand, who have already won the Tri nations. “By resting Greg we can give him an early start on a training programme and provide an opportunity for Robinson to compete for a place,” said Connolly. “The front row selections have been very close this year and we’ve been very conscious of broadening our squad ahead of the World Cup.” Australia have one remianing fixture in the Tri nations which is against the Springboks at Ellis Park on 9 September.
