This match was a difficult match to preview as the Waratahs have blown hot and cold this season.

When they have thrown the ball around they have blown very hot but when they play like they did last weekend then they have blown cold.

Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Blues kick off and we are underway. The Blues give away a penalty so the Tahs kick for touch.

4.00: The Waratahs start really well. They run the ball up to the line and keep the ball passing through the hands and after several phases Dean Mumm brushes off  Serge Lilo and runs off to score the first try of the match.

5.00: Daniel Halangahu adds the conversion.

6.00; What a start for the Waratahs. They run the ball straight up to the line again through Turner. It’s an armwrestle of defence and Dean Mumm almost goes over for his second.

8.00: The Waratahs go at the line again after the scrum and Daniel Halangahu sells a litle dummy and runs on and scores under the posts.

9.00; Halangahu converts his own try.

12.00: The Blues work the ball up and into the Waratahs 25. Ranger has a run.

1300: The Blues press on the right and then they change sides and Rudi Wulf bumps off a tackle by Drew Mitchell to score the Blues first try.

14.00: Stephen Brett takes the conversion and nails it. Tony Woodcock comes off for blood.

17.00: The Waratahs win a penalty and instead of kicking for posts they go for the line out. They win the line out.

18.00: Palu drives for the line but is stopped. Waratahs go at the line again and again. The ball creeps across the field. As they get to about the 8th phase Halangahu gets the ball and does a double step…darts off and powers over to  scores in the tackle.

20.00: Halangahu adds the conversion.

24.00: Waratahs keep the Blues under pressure and Drew Mitchell goes for the chargedown. He gets it and a kick in the chest at the same time. He gets back up.

25.00: Waratahs maintain the pressure but Brett presses the Waratahs back with his boot on the ball.

28.00: Mealamu gets some medical attention which holds the game up.

32.00: The Blues get the ball out on the wing and Toeava is out there to support Joe Rokocoko who gets tackled and passes back to Toeava who scores in the corner.

34.00: Stephen Brett’s conversion from the touchline hits the post.

35.00: From the kick off ( Aussie teams are really struggling with kick off this season) Rene Ranger blasts off down the wing but get caught.

37.00: It’s all out attack from the Blues. They get to within 5m and the Waratahs hold them out but give away a penalty. The Blues take it quickly and they swing the ball to Rene Ranger who busts over and scores!

39.00: Brett’s conversion is good so its a two point game.

The siren goes for half time.

The half time score was Waratahs 21 Blues 19

40.04: Berrick Barnes kicks off and the second half is underway.

42.00: Will Caldwell comes on for Phil Waugh.

46.00: The Blues are looking better this half. They work the ball into the Waratahs half. As they go forward though they go off their feet and give away a penalty.

49.00: It’s all out attack as the Blues send wave after wave of attack to the Waratahs. Eventually the Blues get the overlap and Rene Ranger scores his second try. It’s also a bonus point try.

50.00: Brett’s conversion is good.

54.00: The Waratahs get a penalty so Halangahu takes the shot and nails it.

55.00: The Blues hit straight back with a penalty from Stephen Brett.

Wow. The Waratahs catch the Blues napping and Tatafu Polota-Nau busts off and put his head down like a bulldozer and bashes Rudi Wulf into the ground and scores the Waratahs bonus point try.

59.00: Halangahu misses the conversion. It’s 29 all.

62.00: Will Caldwell gives away a silly penalty so Stephen Brett gets the chance to take the lead. Brett takes the shot and nails it. Joe Rokocoko comes off.

64.00: The Blues start the pick and drive in the Tahs half but they get blown up for crossing.

67.00: Paul Williams runs straight through the Waratahs defence but gets called back as there is double obstruction.

69.00: The Waratahs get into the Blues 25. The Blues however push them back and a knock on goes in.

71.00: The Blues start to apply the pressure now and they look dangerous but Lachie Turner intercepts and puts his toe down…Williams chases but Turner dots the ball down under the posts.

72.00: Daniel Halangahu takes the conversion and nails it.

74.00: The Waratahs get another break as Dean Mumm has a run. They recycle and use the grubber and the Blues get caught offside. It wins a penalty. Halangahu will go for posts. He nails it.

77.00: Will Caldwell gives away another penalty. The Blues have to kick for touch but it does not make much ground.

78.00: The Waratahs give away another penalty. Dean Mumm gets called over and is given a warning. The Blues have to kick for touch.

79.00: The Blues line out is not straight. We have a scrum and the Tahs will wind the clock down.

80.00: Waratahs win the scrum and kick the ball straight out. Thats it Tahs win.
