Waratahs beat Cheetahs in Bloemfontein

Out of the last six Super Rugby matches between the Bloemfontein based Cheetahs
and the Sydney based Waratahs both teams have won three matches each.

Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.

Neil Marais kicks off and we are underway. 

1.00: The Cheetahs get a free kick for an early shove at the scrum. They take the tap but after a couple of phases the Waratahs turn the ball over. 

2.00: The Waratahs run the ball and Taqele Naiyaravoro is brought down. The Waratahs have an advantage and then a penalty for over the top. They kick for touch and the line out. 

3.00: The Waratahs win the line out and they get the ball out to Israel Folau who scores in the corner. TRY! 

4.00: Bernard Foley takes the conversion kick but misses. 

7.00: The Waratahs move the ball quickly through the hands and they stretch the Cheetahs and this time Michael Hooper scores. TRY! 

8.00: Foley takes the conversion kick and nails this one. 

11.00: The Cheetahs hit back as Cornal Hendricks races down the wing. He is caught but passes to Ryno Benjamin who offloads to Francois Venter who scores. TRY! 

12.00: Coenie van Wyk adds the conversion. 

14.00: The Waratahs throw the ball around a little too freely and Cornal Hendricks picks off an intercept and he races for the line and scores. TRY! 

15.00: Van Wyk adds the conversion. 

18.00: The Waratahs spread the ball wide too quickly for the Cheetahs and Matt Carraro goes in for the visitors third TRY! 

19.00: Foley again misses the conversion. 

24.00: The Cheetahs almost get in again as Benjamin races down the wing, he offloads to Sergeal Petersen but he is just caught and the ball ends up in the Waratahs hands – knock on. 

27.00: The Cheetahs win a penalty from the scrum. They kick for touch and the line out. The Cheetahs set up the maul and drive over and score. TRY! Boom Prinsloo.

29.00: Van Wyk adds the conversion. 

33.00: The Waratahs defend attacks from the Cheetahs and win a penalty. They kick for touch. 

35.00: The Cheetahs keep the ball moving through the hands but afetr about 9 phases they knock on. 

36.00: Penalty to the Waratahs from the scrum. Foley kicks for touch. 

37.00: The Waratahs win the line out and they send wave after wave of attack at the Cheetahs. Folau gets through two tackles and stumbles over the line and scores. TRY! Bonus point.

38.00: Foley again missed the conversion. 

40.00: The Siren sounds as the Waratahs are on attack. Folau gets the Waratahs on the front foot and they move the ball wide to Taqele Naiyaravoro who scores in the corner. TRY! 

41.00: Foley nails the conversion. 

The half time score is Cheetahs 21 Waratahs 29

The Waratahs kick off and we are underway. 

40.39: The Waratahs win the ball back after the kick off and Hendricks slips off Adam Ashley-Cooper who goes over to score. TRY! The TMO is called in to check. The TRY is awarded. 

42.00: Foley misses the conversion. 

45.00: The Cheetahs go through 7 phases in their half. The Waratahs manage to keep them in their half and even press them backwards through to 10 phases. The Cheetahs concede a penalty so the Waratahs kick for touch. 

48.00: Willie le Roux comes on for the Cheetahs. The Waratahs line out out is not clean and the ball is taken into touch on the opposite side. 

50.00: Dean Mumm comes on for Mitchell Chapman. 

54.00: The Cheetahs move the ball through the hands and get over the gain line,  Cornal Hendricks chips ahead and chases and then gets the ball again and scores. TRY! Bonus point. 

55.00: Neil Marais adds the conversion. 

59.00: The Waratahs up the attack again and they go wide to Israel Folau who goes in to score his hat-trick TRY! Benjamin is yellow carded for a trip (foul tackle) on Folau. 

60.00: Foley slots the conversion. 

64.00: Penalty to the Waratahs. Foley lines up and nails the kick. 

69.00: The Waratahs work the ball up to the Cheetahs line but then lose the ball to the Cheetahs. 

70.00:Sarel Pretorius passes the ball back to his support but the ball goes to Bernard Foley who scores. TRY! 

72.00: Foley adds the conversion from in front. 

76.00: The Waratahs stretch the Cheetahs again and this time Carraro goes over for his second TRY! 

77.00 Foley takes the conversion and nails it. 

79.00: The Cheetahs chip the ball behind the Waratahs, Sarel Pretorius gets the ball but knocks on. He goes on to score a phantom try which is ruled out for the knock on by the TMO. 

79.00: Penalty to the Cheetahs. They take the tap and Francois Venter slips over and scores. TRY! 

81.00: Marais misses the conversion. The hooter sounds and that is it. 

The Waratahs have won.
