A calf strain has ruled prop Matt Dunning out of Saturday’s crucial Super 14 showdown between the HSBC Waratahs and the Stormers in Cape Town.

Dunning suffered the injury against the Bulls in Pretoria last weekend.

‘A scan confirmed I’ve got a strained calf and although I’ll miss this weekend I’m hoping to be available for the following week against the Reds,’ said Dunning in Cape Town today.

‘It’s really disappointing to miss this match. It’s such a big game both teams have been going well and there is a lot at stake.’

Dunning will remain on tour to receive treatment by the Waratahs medical staff.

‘It’s only a minor strain but it affects props more than other players which means doing plenty of rehab work over the next week or so to be right for Queensland.’

The HSBC Waratahs line-up will be announced Thursday afternoon South African time.
