Waratahs Make Positional Changes for Semifinal

Daniel Halangahu has been promoted to starting flyhalf for Friday’s Tooheys New Super 14 semifinal against the Hurricanes in Wellington. Daniel Halangahu – his try in the 69th, and Peter Hewat’s conversion, put the HSBC Waratahs in the lead for the first time.

Mat Rogers switches to fullback, Peter Hewat to the wing and Sam Norton-Knight back to inside centre after starting on the wing last weekend.

“We’ve obviously had to make some adjustments due to matters out of our control but we’ve trained with this combination all week and we’re happy that it’s right combination for this match,” said NSW head coach Ewen McKenzie.

“The positional changes are familiar ones for us and we’re very comfortable with it. We’ve never been fearful of making these adjustments but in reality it’s
really only a run-on situation and things will change during the game.”

McKenzie said the Waratahs will assess the bench combination today before making a final decision tomorrow.
