The Blues stayed in the top four after their loss to the Waratahs on Saturday and will return to Auckland where they will face the Brumbies next weekend.

The Brumbies in ninth place look like they will need to win all of their remaining matches to stay in the hunt for the play offs so the Blues will have to sharpen up against one of Super rugby’s past champions.

With Brumbies flanker George Smith seemingly hitting form the Blues will need to step it up against the Brumbies.

Speaking after the Blues loss to the Waratahs captain Troy Flavell lamented his team’s lack of posession, “Over the 80 minutes they got the better of us and fundamental errors cost us,” Flavell said.

“They kept hold of the pill (ball) and we couldn’t get our hands on it.

“They controlled the breakdown extremely well and got over the gain line which put pressure on our defensive system.”
