Waratahs Super Rugby centre Kurtley Beale underwent successful surgery on Monday after injuring his knee in his team’s match against the Bulls on Saturday.

The injury occured in the opening minute of the match at Allianz Stadium and he had to be stretchrred off the field.

According to a statement from the Waratahs, “The procedure went well with a good fixation of the patella tendon back onto the patella bone. ”

“Beale will remain sidelined for four to six months and will spend the next six weeks in a range of motion braces.”

“The prognosis was much better than expected given the tendon remained intact, requiring less invasive surgery, and that the injury was isolated with no other damage to the knee.”

The 2016 Super Rugby Grand final is on Saturday 6 August so Beale will not return for the Waratahs and has announced that he will join Wasps later in the year.
