The opening round in the Rugby Championship starts in South Africa at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit where the Springboks host Argentina’s Pumas.

Argentina kick off and the match is underway. The Pumas knock on early so the Springboks have a scrum.

2.00: The Springboks win a penalty from the scrum so they kick for touch.

3.00: South Africa win the line out and attack Argentina in centrefield. Jantjies chips the ball ahead but Argentina get back and secure the ball and kick it into touch.

5.00: Penalty to South Africa as Pablo Matera is caught offside.

6.00:Elton Janties takes the penalty kick but misses.

7.00: South Africa win the ball back and Eltjon Jantjies breaks away. He is caught but South Africa keep the ball alive and Ruan Combrinck scores in the corner. TRY!

8.00: Jantjies takes the conversion kick and nails it.

12.00: Penalty to Argentina on South Africa’s 22m line. They take the kick for touch and line out.

15.00: Argentina win another penalty as Francois Louw goes off his feet at the breakdown. Nicolas Sanchez takes a shot at the posts. He nails it.

17.00: Penalty to South Africa. Jantjies takes the kick and nails it.

19.00: South Africa attack in centrefield. Mapoe kicks the ball ahead and Argentina scramble to get back but they secure the ball and begin the counter attack.

21.00: Both teams enjoy some time with the ball but the Argentina win a penalty. The TMO is called in to review a lifting tackle by Manuel Montero who lifted Damian de Allende. He is yellow carded. The penalty is reversed. South Africa kick for touch.

23.00: Argentina win a penalty. Sanchez takes the shot. It hits the post, then bounces on to the crossbar and then over.

24.00: Argentina break out on attack as Joaquín Tuculet races down the wing. Oupa Mohoje gets him down with a high tackle but the Pumas keep the ball alive and change sides and Matías Orlando scores in the corner. TRY ! With a player in the bin.

26.00: Sanchez adds the conversion.

27.00; Argentina are opening up. They get South Africa on the back foot but a last ditch tackle just shoves them into touch.

28.00: After the line out South Africa win a penalty. Landajo interfered with Habana going for a high ball. There is a bit of Hollywood from Habana but the penalty is SA’s.They will kick for posts from the half way line.

29.00:Jantjies takes the conversion but misses.

31.00: South Africa show some slick handling skills as they get the ball wide to Habana but he is double tackled short of the line. However Sanchez has taken a knock as Eben Etzebeth clashed heads with him. Vincent Koch comes on for Julian Redelinghuys due to a separate injury. Argentina back to 15 and they have a 5m scrum.

32.00: The scrum collapses and South Africa win a penalty. Jantjies kicks for touch and the line out – on the 5m line.

33.00: South Africa win the line out and Mapoe gets the ball from an offload and slices through to score. However the TMO is called in to review the try. NO try as he lost the ball forward. Pumas 5m scrum.

34.00: Argentina win a penalty from the scrum. They kick for touch to clear.

37.00: Penalty to South Africa for offside. Jantjies takes the penalty shot from 48m out. He too hits the post but it misses.

38.00: South Africa counter attack from the penalty kick but concede a penalty. They kick for touch but don’t find it.

39.00: South Africa run the ball but knock on.

40.00; The siren sounds for half time. It is half time.

Elton Jantjies kicks off for the second half.

41.00: Argentina pick up a loose ball from South Africa who are on the backfoot. South Africa knock it on giving Argentina an attacking scrum just outside the SA 22.

44.00; The Pumas knock on which gives possession to South Africa who kick the ball upfield.

45.00: Argentina win the line out on SA’s throw. They use the box kick and South Africa secure the ball. They chip the ball ahead and Habana takes out Santiago Cordero in the air. Yellow card for Habana after a TMO review.  Argentina kick for touch.

46.00: Argentina win the line out and Facundo Isa almost gets through to score. Jantjies tries to clear the ball and it goes straight into Adriaan Strauss’ face and into touch. Argentina have a 5m scrum.

47.00: Argentina win the scrum and attack on the 5m line. South Africa turn the ball over and run it all the way upfield – nearly into the Pumas 22 where the ball goes into touch.

51.00: South Africa’s scrum powers forward but Argentina come away with the ball and attack. After some broken play Argentina kick the ball upfield – Goosen chips it back and the Pumas run it back before the ball goes into touch.

54.00: Penalty to South Africa. Jantjies lines up the posts from 32m out. He nails it to level the scores.

59.00: The match has slowed a bit and the crowd have started a mexican wave to entertain themselves as they wait for a scrum to be reset a couple of times.

60.00: Argentina win the scrum but then lose the ball. South Africa attack but lose the ball forward and into touch.

62.00: Penalty to Argentina. Sanchez takes the kick but misses.

63.00: Penalty again to Argentina. They will have a shot.

64.00: Sanchez takes the shot and nails it. Argentina lead.

66.00: Montero breaks down the wing for Argentina. He is caught but the Pumas keep the ball alive. They chip the ball over the Boks and Santiago Cordero chases and scores. TRY!

68.00: Sanchez adds the conversion.

70.00: South Africa win a scrum and Faf de Klerk runs to the corner but slips a pass inside to Johan Goosen  who runs in the TRY as the defenders had gone the other way. However the TMO is called in as there was a dangerous tackle. Nothing comes of the review and the TRY is awarded.

71.00: Jantjies adds the conversion.

72.00: Penalty to South Africa after the restart. Jantjies will have a shot.

73.00: Jantjies takes the kick, nails it and levels the scores.

74.00: Scrum penalty to South African. Goosen wilkl have a shot from 59m out. He misses.

76.00: Penalty to South Africa. Combrinck goes for touch and finds it. SA have a line out.

78.00: South Africa win the line out and Warren Whiteley goes for the corner and scores. The pass looked potentially forward but it is not reviewed. The try is awarded.

79.00: Jantjies takes the conversion kick – and he nails it.

80.00: The siren sounds as the restart kick is taken. The Springboks secure it and win the match.
